Street: Clients solicited on the street, park or other public places. Serviced in side streets, vehicles, or short stay premises

Brothel: Premises explicitly dedicated to providing sex. Better security than street. Often licensed by authorities

Club, pub, bar, karaoke bar, dance hall: Clients solicited in alcohol vending venues and serviced on site or elsewhere

Door knock or hotel: Unattached males are approached in their hotel rooms or boarding houses

  4. Paul Goldstein described prostitutes in terms of occupational commitment and occupational milieu. Occupational commitment refers to the frequency of a woman's prostitution and is subdivided into three types:
    1. Temporary prostitute: a discrete act of prostitution, lasting not more than six months in a specific occupational milieu,
    2. Occasional prostitute: 2 or more discrete acts of prostitution in a specific occupational milieu, each instance lasting no longer than six months in duration,
    3. Continual prostitute: prostitution lasting more than six months in a particular occupational milieu on a regular basis.
Occupational milieu relates to the specific types of prostitution in which a female is involved. Goldstein divides these into seven categories:
    a. Streetwalker: a woman who overtly solicits men on the street and offers sexual favours for pay,
    b. Call girl: a woman who works in a residence or hotel soliciting clients or who solicits by phone,
    c. Massage parlour prostitute: a woman who offers sexual services in a massage parlour, not always limited to massages or fondling,
    d. House prostitute: a woman who works in an establishment that is created specially for prostitution and where male clients are provided sexual favours for payment,
    e. Madam: a woman who supplies other prostitutes with male customers for a percentage of the fee,
    f. Mistress: a woman who is mainly supported by one man at a time or who sees only one man at a time for paid sexual favours,
    g. Barterer: a woman who exchanges sexual relations for professional or other services or for material goods (such as drugs or clothing)

  5. Jennifer James divided prostitutes into two classes: true prostitutes and part-timers. True prostitutes' roles included outlaws, rip-off artists, hypes, old-timers, ladies, and thoroughbreds. Part-timers included prostitutes who had no style and amateurs or "hos"

Prostitutes also categorised by class, money, and the opportunities available to them. Those at the lower levels of prostitution tend to make the least amount of money and work harder to keep what they make. On the other hand, prostitutes on the high-priced end can make a comfortable, if not financially independent, living while having a lower risk for the dangers often accompanying prostitutes, such as sexual assault and drug addiction.

  7. Street prostitution is a form of prostitution whereby sex workers solicits customers from a public places most commonly while waiting at the street or walking alongside a street but also other public places. In the USA ,street prostitution is illegal in all 50 states. It tends to be clustered in certain areas known for solicitation.Almost 45% of street prostitutes in the USA comprises of teenage girls and boys who are vulnerable to physical and sexual assaults as well to muggings by both clients and pimps.

Escort or call out prostitution is a type of prostitution that exists throughout the USA from both independant prostitutes and those employed through escort agencies. In the US, escorts and private workers contacted by phone and working from a "book" are known as "call girls" or "call men". Basically client contacts sex workers by phone. It is the most covert form of sex work. The amount of money that is made by an escort is different deppending on race, appearance, age, experience, gender and location. an escort service in Alaska, targeted teenage girls who were homeless, runaway or low in paying jobs.

Strip club is an adult entertainment venue in which striptease or other exotic dance is regularly performed. In the USA, extensive prostitution activities are taking place at strip clubs. Customers use an ATM or credit card machine which dispense tokens used for purchasing services at the club whereby a particular club takes a cut of the payment for illegal sex acts.

Brothel prostitution is also known as a bordello ,whorehouse and cathouse is an establishment specifically dedicated to prostitution providing the prostitutes a place to meet to have sexual intercourse with clients. In the regulated brothels in Nevada,USA, the prostitutes are contract workers who split their earnings with the house or often to "tip" support staff. They receive no benefits such as health insurance and social support.
